Electric power continues to make great strides in leisure karting. In 2023, the number of drivers taking part in the Sodi W Series with electric engines, the biggest international leisure karting ranking, doubled to one thousand, while the number of circuits open to this innovation tripled. Logically, the popularity of the SWS e-Sprint International Final has followed the same trend. Held in Switzerland at the Payerne Karting site on 26th and 27th April, the second edition of this increasingly successful event promises to be particularly attractive.
A prestigious sport complex in Switzerland
Karting Payerne was not chosen to host the second SWS e-Sprint International Final lightly. The well-established reputation of Karting de Payerne in Switzerland and in Europe offers the guarantee of a competition well managed by an experienced team in collaboration with Sodi SWS. Two tracks will allow the top SWS electric drivers to compete over two days. The indoor (950m) and outdoor (1050m) circuits are long enough to enhance the interest and pleasure of racing on fast, technical tracks that are ideally suited to the discipline. Located close to Lake Neufchâtel, 45 minutes from Lausanne and 90 minutes from Geneva, Payernland offers a host of activities for all the family in an exceptional setting.
A new race format
The race layout has been simplified around a tried-and-tested format that is unanimously enjoyed in both leisure and competition karting. Each of the two days will include Timed Practices followed by Qualifying Heats and Finals. Points will be awarded during the races and the total will reveal the winners, with the same intensity as a multi-event championship. Consistency at the top of the rankings throughout the meeting will therefore play a major role in the overall victory.
More participants
84 drivers aged 15 and over have been selected on the basis of their results in the SWS 2023 season, an increase of 25% on the first edition. Drivers from more than 15 nations, including Finland, Estonia and Malaysia, will be competing on the two tracks in Payerne. Female participation has also increased significantly.
Latest-generation SODI electric karts
Sodikart has been developing electrically-powered karts for leisure use for over 15 years and is one of the market leaders. The joint work of the R&D department and the production teams has enabled major advances to be made in this field, thanks to the sense of innovation that is part of the group’s DNA. The Sodi RSX 2 embodies the highest stage in the current development of the electric leisure range and the Payerne fleet will be used for the second SWS e-Sprint International Final.
A spectacular closing ceremony
The two days of intense competition will come to a close with a prestigious evening in Payerne on Saturday to celebrate the second SWS e-Sprint International Final. 200 people are invited to this celebratory and convivial occasion where the top drivers will be rewarded. The winner of the SWS season, the winner and top three of the e-sprint Final and the top women will be honoured thanks to the event’s partners.
– Cambox will be giving away one of its latest-generation on-board cameras.
– Mak Design, the customisation specialist, will be donating two helmet covers.
– ITAKAshop, Sodikart’s online shop, will be giving away a number of vouchers.
– DEMT has prepared personalised protection mats for the occasion, which are very useful in competition, to reward the best SWS circuit as well as the winner.
