29/08/2016 - Comunicado de prensa
Sodi is very happy and proud of the Vice-World Champion title in KZ won by Anthony Abbasse at Kristianstad. This magnificent result concludes a very convincing 2016 season for Sodi at the forefront of the current premier class in karting.
The work done two years ago by the Sodi Racing Team combined with the expertise provided by the arrival of Bas Lammers and the investment by the entire Sodikart staff has paid off, regularly placing the French brand among the world's best at the highest level of competition. Working closely with the team CPB Sport has also been very productive.
Sodikart has taken podiums at all competitions and championships in which the brand has participated this year:
Bas Lammers meanwhile finished the World Championship in a wonderful 4th and Jérémy Iglesias in 7th position, three drivers in the top 10.
Also see the performance of the young driver Tom Leuillet in KZ2, 7th in the International Super Cup with CPB Sport, which also demonstrates the quality of the Sodi chassis at all levels.
Sodi thanks its engine partner TM Racing for its excellent services.
A grand finale!
The world meeting at Kristianstad immediately confirmed the performance of the Sodi drivers. Bas Lammers began with the 3rd fastest time and then continued to the third row of the Prefinal. Hampered by a concern about carburation on the formation lap of the Final, he finished 4th in the wheeltracks of the 3rd. Jérémy Iglesias started with 5th in Qualifying before experiencing a slowdown, but eventually came back to 7th position. Finally, Anthony Abbasse was the least well placed early in the meeting with his 12th in Qualifying, with his fastest time set just after the chequered flag. He was delayed in the second heat, the victim of a collision, but came back from 12th to 7th position in the Prefinal. He was free to make a legendary start and even took the lead in mid-race. He finished a fantastic 2nd place while being credited with the second fastest lap so became the 2016 Vice-World Champion in KZ.
In his first season at this level, Tom Leuillet was a sensation in the KZ2 International Super Cup, fighting against very experienced specialists. Regularly in the top five in the heats, he didn't let anyone past in the closing stages to finish in a very good 7th place.
Sodi announced its ambitions with its big comeback in 2015. Success wasn't long in coming with remarkable performances from the beginning, with more confirmed in 2016. Next year, the goal will clearly be to focus on more wins and major international titles.
