ANOTHER INTERNATIONAL TITLE IN KZ2, Podium in OKJ

14/03/2022 - Comunicato stampa

Already winner of two WSK Promotion events at the beginning of the season, Senna Van Walstijn became the new WSK Super Master Series champion in KZ2. This is not the first time that the Sodi Racing Team has won this top level series against the best of the world's drivers and the most prestigious international teams. In Sarno, the French team also shone in OK-Junior. In addition to setting the fastest time of the weekend, British driver Nathan Tye made a remarkable recovery from 14th to 3rd place in the Final.

With just a few weeks to go before the start of the European Championships, Sodikart is in excellent form. The CIK-FIA homologated chassis demonstrates a particularly high level of performance at each race. For its part, the technical staff have perfectly exploited the effectiveness of the Sodi-TM Racing packages to achieve the goal set when they arrived at the foot of Vesuvius, with the title won by the Dutchman Senna Van Walstijn.

Van Walstijn piles up the trophies since 2021
Mansel Smith, Team Manager of the Sodi Racing Team, was delighted with this string of successes. "Winning a Final is always rewarding, but to see one of our drivers on the top step of the podium after having won a Championship over several events shows our consistency, which is just as important. I must admit that the weekend in Sarno was rather stressful, as we experienced our share of racing incidents. In the end, our two drivers Emilien Denner and Senna Van Walstijn worked together to help the team triumph and I thank them for that."

It is true that Van Walstijn lost contact with the leaders on Sunday when he dropped out of the third race after winning the first and finishing 2nd in the next. By moving up from 12th to 5th place in the Final, he secured the WSK Super Master Series overall classification. 5th after the heats, but forced to retire in his Prefinal, Frenchman Emilien Denner managed to find himself in a position to fight for the podium after a breathtaking start to the race, before unfortunately retiring with four laps to go.

Sodi chassis on the podium again in OK-Junior
Already 3rd in January in the WSK Champions Cup, Nathan Tye repeated this magnificent performance in an event where almost all the teams that will be competing in the FIA European Karting Championship were present. "Once again, the Sodikart factory was able to rely on the experience and expertise of CPB Sport in KZ2 and Trèfle Racing, managed by Jean-Philippe Guignet, in OK-Junior," continued Mansel Smith. "Our equipment made a strong impression in the south of Italy, and Nathan set the fastest absolute lap of the meeting. The Sodi 2022 chassis for the non-gearbox categories is really good, which makes us particularly optimistic for the rest of the season."

Nathan Tye had his share of problems in the heats and in his Prefinal. Determined to climb back up from his 14th place on the starting grid in the Final, the young Briton showed his talent by finishing in 3rd position.
