Exceptional performances in Wackersdorf

n the KZ World Championship, the KZ2 World Cup and the KZ2 Masters International Super Cup, the Sodi Racing Team chassis played all the leading roles in Germany, displaying exceptional competitiveness. Émilien Denner and the Sodi Racing Team, who took pole position and led the Final after the start, were sorely lacking in success in KZ. Omnipresent at the front with its KZ2 drivers, the CPB Sport team managed to place Thomas Imbourg and Jean Nomblot in the top five. And the illustrious Davide Forè took a brilliant victory in the Masters category with his Sodi chassis and the Renda Motorsport team. The major FIA Karting event at Wackersdorf was positive in many respects for the world’s leading kart manufacturer.

Pole position, repeated heat wins, a succession of fastest laps and podium finishes marked the Sodikart brand’s meeting at the prestigious international event dedicated to gearbox karts. Perfectly prepared to take on the ever-increasing competition, the French brand was there! Admittedly, the long-awaited KZ World Champion title was not the reward for its extreme level of performance in Wackersdorf, but Sodikart was irreproachable, apart from deploring the unfortunate incident on the first lap of the Final which led to a cascade of collisions. Three Sodi chassis were in the top 10 at the start, but none of them made it to the finish!

After his remarkable best time in Timed Qualifying, Émilien Denner had every reason to believe in his chances. The Frenchman won two heats and the Super Heat, setting the fastest lap of the race on each occasion. Trapped in the middle of karts in distress after just three corners, Émilien was all too soon forced to retire, at the same time and for the same reason as his team-mate Senna Van Walstijn and private driver Yohan Soguel. For his only major competition of the season, Anthony Abbasse rediscovered his excellent instincts and fast lap times, enabling him to move up to P15 in the Final.

At the KZ2 World Cup, in a category with 118 starters, the CPB Sport team had a magnificent line-up, with four Sodi-TMs reaching the Final. Matteo Spirgel, who set the fastest time in his group and won two heats, had a very unlucky Sunday. Starting 5th in the Final, but hampered by the driver in front of him on the grid at lights out, Thomas Imbourg was unable to rejoin the top three despite setting identical times, but took a creditable 4th place just ahead of his team-mate Jean Nomblot, who came back brilliantly from the seventh row. In his first full season in KZ2, young Yevan David confirmed his progress by moving up from 28th to 9th place.

Davide Forè got off to a perfect start and was imperious from the first to the last lap of the Final, making the Sodi chassis triumph in KZ2 Masters. The Renda Motorsport team and the talented Italian driver, who decided to place their trust in Sodikart from the start of the season, have been rewarded in the best possible way with this world title in the 2023 International Super Cup.

In the FIA Karting Team Championship, Sodikart finished 3rd in KZ, as did CPB Sport in KZ2.
